Dear WJOA Members:

As I travel home from this year’s conference, I recall conversations that I either was involved in or over heard. Many were along the lines of: “Great conference”, Wow that session was good”, and even, “I have got to get some of or other people to come to this conference”. The last comment is the most important. I ask this of you, if you enjoyed this conference, and you would like to see more of the same, then your Board of Directors needs your help. We need for each one of you to take the information back, share, but most importantly, convince your supervisors, your Sheriff’s , your Chief’s to allow you and others from your agencies to attend. We also need for you to contact other departments in your area and do the same. In order for your Board to offer quality, time sensitive, informational, and well worth the time of your attendance, we need participants to come. It really is that simple. It takes numbers to be able to continue to offer high quality conferences, so before you forget about the conference and it’s value start making your contacts now.

At our December Board of Directors meeting, the conference committee reviewed your evaluations and started to put together next year’s conference. I can tell you this much, your Board is committed to put together a high quality conference and the emphasis is always on learning with time sensitive diversity. We strive to offer all this at the lowest possible price and I believe we have accomplished this and have the confidence you will see the same for next year.

At this same meeting, WJOA proudly offered two scholarships to two of our members who were successful with their applications. As a result of these scholarships, two members will be able to attend specialized training that their respective departments would not have otherwise offered. All this means is, everyone wins, and the $20.00 membership fee is well worth it.

I have to say, without fail, your Board of Directors has made the position of President so very easy. They work hard and put forth effort all year long to bring together a flawless conference with so much to offer. I can not thank them enough, so I do so in this publication to give them some proper acknowledgment and gratitude.

Each one of you, is wished a very safe Holiday, and we will see you in September 2012!

Respectfully submitted,

Wm. Riesterer

WJOA President
